Utenos kolegija Higher Education Institution hosted the Erasmus+ mixed intensive program “Food of the Future: From Innovative Ideas to Sustainable Products” from May 11 to 22, bringing together students from Lithuania, Greece, Portugal and Latvia for joint creativity, experiments and the search for new ideas. The program activities were held remotely and live.
Participants delved into the topics of sustainability, innovation and modern food technologies: they listened to lectures on the circular economy, food product development, packaging solutions and ensuring food quality and safety.
In international teams, students created innovative yeast dough confectionery products using non-traditional ingredients – carrots, pumpkins, bananas and caramelized onions. During practical activities, recipes were developed, laboratory tests were conducted, product properties were analyzed and more sustainable solutions in food production were sought.
The program participants also visited the company "Rokiškio pieno gamyba" and the Food Sector Practical Training Center, where they got acquainted with food production technologies, laboratories and tasted various products.
During the final event, the students presented their created products and research results, discussed with teachers and food industry representatives, and shared ideas and insights about the food of the future.
This program became not only professional experience for the participants, but also an opportunity to make international acquaintances, strengthen teamwork skills and inspire each other with new ideas.
