Upon completion of Clothing Technologies study program, graduates receive Professional Bachelor of Technological Sciences.

The study process involves the application of various teaching and learning methods, the virtualization of the study process, and the application of contemporary creative technologies. The student-cantered self-study of a student, task-based and group work self-study empathizing problem-based learning and critical thinking.  The study programme aims at active students’ participation in the study process, creation of educative environment by applying such methods as: interactive lectures, practicals, discussions, case study analysis, study and analysis

During the studies, students are taught to create sketches with various computer design programs, to construct clothes with Accumark v.10 (Gerber) program with integrated 3D module.

Study Abroad: The ERASMUS + student exchange program provides the opportunity to study or do an internship in Tallinn, Estonia or Rēzekne, Latvia.

Students of this study program will be able to independently perform complex work, make the right decisions in the following areas of activity:

  • clothing design,
  • preparation and cutting of materials,
  • organization of technological sewing processes,
  • design of technological sewing flows.

Studies objectives

Objective of a study programme:

To prepare a creative and social responsible specialist who is able to design clothing, knows processes of handling and cutting the fabrics, the design of technological sewing flows and work organization, who has common abilities that help to adapt to the changing environment conditions and labor market requirements.

Learning outcomes

The graduates will demonstrate their:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the key aspects and concepts of clothing technology, understanding of the information about fashion trends, ability to analyse a sketch or a sample of a clothing item, and ability to apply them in decision making in professional activity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key aspects and concepts of clothing article materials selection, product design, designing, construction, production and maintenance technology and process organisation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key characteristics the principles of organisation of clothing production flows.
  • Ability to analyse and design constructive-technical documentation of a model and select proper materials, methods, technological equipment, and familiar methods.
  • Ability to evaluate, select and apply appropriate production design, constructing and modelling methods of clothing.
  • Ability to analyse processing technologies of clothing products and to design a rational sequence of a product technological processing, to design technological flows of clothing manufacturing.
  • Ability to plan, manage and evaluate clothing manufacturing processes, apply the principles of work organisation in line with the legal, work safety and environmental, ethical and commercial principles.
  • Ability to find appropriate professional information in databases and other scientific and technological information sources.
  • Ability to conduct necessary technological experiments, interpret data and draw conclusions regarding the characteristics of the materials used in clothing manufacturing, the influence of the selected equipment on the end quality of a product.
  • Ability to adapt to constant changes in professional activity, to communicate in writing and orally in the native and foreign language with the professionals of own area, by conveying study experience and acquired knowledge in clothing technology.
  • Ability to take responsibility for effects of technological solutions on the public and environment, compliance with the rules of professional ethics and public spirit.
  • Ability to function effectively as individual and as a member of a team by contributing to the work or result.
  • Understanding of ethical, standard and social norms, related to professional performance, and the ability to take responsibility for own actions in achievement of life and professional career coherency.

The graduates with the specialization of Individual Manufacturing of Clothing will demonstrate their:

  • Ability to design a product in line with custom requirements by applying various composition and illustration techniques that meet technological innovations and fashion trends.
  • Ability to anticipate and apply innovative original clothing manufacturing solutions, recycling capabilities and quality assurance in the development and design of new textile products.

The graduates with the specialization of Massive Manufacturing of Clothing will demonstrate their:

  • Ability to organize the processes of clothing manufacturing service supply with reference to activity effectiveness and quality.
  • Ability to organize preparation, cutting, sewing and final finishing processes in creating and designing original clothing.
