The acquired professional bachelor degree in Environment Engineering allows the graduate to work in various industrial, utility, private and state enterprises of economic activity, state and local self-governing institutions in the position of an environment engineer/ecologist or other environment protection related positions. After being awarded the professional bachelor degree in Environment Engineering, the graduate is able to work in enterprises of economy activity, state and local municipality institutions as an environment protection engineer, an ecologist or to occupy another position related to environment protection.

The objective of the Environment Protection Engineering study programme is to train a professional Engineer of Environment Protection, having higher institution education, acquired knowledge of fundamental, social sciences and engineering, necessary in the Environment Protection area, meeting the labour market needs, able to think creatively and critically, observe and assess environment pollution problems, interested in innovations of environment protection technology sciences and apply it practically, aware of the influence and significance of environment protection engineering solutions on the improvement of the environment and the human life quality, able to sustain own professional competence through lifelong learning.    

Learning outcomes:

1. Know general regularities and laws of nature sciences, mathematics, necessary to understand the fundamental basics of environment protection engineering.

2. Know environmental processes, pollution formation and decrease principles as well as environmental engineering concepts.  

3. Have basic important-in-practice knowledge of environment engineering technologies (water purification and waste water treatment, air pollution decrease, waste treatment and soil protection, the use of renewable energy resources and can apply it solving environment protection problems, applying well-known technologies in practice.

4. Know clean production principles and main prevention measures as well as their application in practical activity. 

5. Have fundamentals of legal and economic knowledge, relevant for the environment protection

6. Can choose and perform proper laboratory tests for solving environment protection problems, analyze their findings and submit conclusions.

7. Have work skills with the equipment used for the environment protection tests. 

8. Can find legal, technical and scientific information sources relevant for the environment engineering in public and specialized databases.

9. Can apply analytical and simulation methods analyzing environment protection aspects.

10. Can assess environment protection aspects in the economic activity.

11. Can analyze engineering projects and execute as well as perform their implementation.

12. Can plan organizational and technological environment protection measures, projects implementing the economic activity.

13. Can solve environment protection problems choosing technologies, allowing decreasing air, waste water and soil pollution as well as waste management.

14. Can choose measures efficient in the environment protection approach, assuring the implementation of the best available production modes and pollution prevention.

15. Can prepare documentation of the environment protection activity.

16. Can analyze, collect and use data appropriately, delivering clear and logic solutions to the definitely specified environment protection engineering problems to the society.

17. Can sustain own professional competence through life-long-learning.

18. Can creatively and critically think solving environment protection problems.

19. Can solve engineering problems individually and in a team.

20. Can understand moral responsibility for the impact of own activity and its results to the public, economic, cultural development, welfare and environment.
